Moore and Wright’s new Durometers measure the hardness of softer materials where other methods, such as Leeb hardness testing, are unsuitable. The testers use a conical indenter which is pressed into the test material, these are spring-loaded to apply a calibrated force to the surface, creating a small indentation. The durometer uses the depth of this indentation to calculate the material's hardness from 0 to 100HA or HD, displaying the result on the LCD to the nearest 0.5 with an accuracy of ±2.
The MWT-3600 Shore A Durometer is ideal for measurements on softer materials such as silicone, vinyl and rubber. The MWT-3610 Shore D Durometer is best suited to rigid and semi-rigid plastics, or softer metals.
